COVID-19 UpdateOn Wednesday, March 25, Governor Walz issued an Executive Order calling for a statewide “Stay at Home” from 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 27, through Friday, April 10. In addition, he directed the Commissioner of Education to implement statewide Distance Learning in Minnesota’s K-12 schools from Monday, March 30, through Thursday, April 30.

During the “Stay at Home” order and the statewide Distance Learning, the following will be in place:

Montevideo Public Schools will provide daycare for the school age children, 12 years of age and younger, of all identified essential and emergency personnel. Daycare services will be provided at the Sanford Education Center. For more information on daycare services, contact the Sanford Education Center Office 320-269-6538.

Food Service will be providing a free lunch and breakfast daily for anyone 18 years of age or younger. Meals continue to be available for a walk-up or drive-up distribution between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Meal pick-up locations are:

Montevideo Middle School (circle drive, Door S1)
Ramsey Elementary School (East Door near bus & staff parking lot)

In addition, we are delivering meals at pick-up points along bus routes. For more information about meals and the delivery of meals, please contact Janelle in the District Office at 320-269-8833.

Educational services will be provided through a distance learning format. The entire distance learning plan will be posted on the district website by Friday, March 27. In addition, each building principal will be sending out information to their families regarding their building’s Distance Learning Plan. Although we are providing educational service remotely through a Distance Learning format for the coming month, I would remind you that all staff are available to parents and students by means of email and phone and we encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.

As we move through the coming weeks, we are certainly charting a new path in the delivery of educational services. You can be sure that our staff is committed to providing every student with the best possible educational experience.

Once again, we would remind you that this continues to be an emerging and rapidly changing situation and we will keep you informed of changes as they occur.

Thank you ~
Luther L. Heller
